Weeks to months. Your pet becomes an elder on day 30, and its old age falls somewhere between day 60 and day 120 — that span is rolled when it hatches, not earned. Care does not lengthen the number; it decides whether your pet is still healthy when the day arrives.

Only from old age, and only if it is in poor health when old age arrives — a pet you have kept well simply carries on past that day. Missed days never kill: while you are away, decay stops counting after seven days, so a holiday costs nothing permanent.

Weeks, not an evening — that is the design rather than a limitation. The stages run egg, chick, juvenile, adult, elder, and each one arrives from small interactions accumulated over days: feeding, cleaning, petting, playing. There is nothing to speed it up, because a companion that reached old age in one sitting would not be a companion. The practical consequence is that short daily visits work better than a long session, and a day you skip costs the pet nothing permanent.
