How to Check if Your VPN is Working

What is checked, and what a leak in each place means
Four checks, and each one looks at a different route out of your machine. A failed check does not mean the VPN is broken — it means one specific path goes around the tunnel.

| WebRTC Leak Test | The browser can hand a website your real address directly, through a STUN request that bypasses the tunnel — even while every page loads through the VPN. |
| DNS Leak Test | Name lookups go to your provider’s server instead of the VPN’s. The traffic itself stays encrypted, but the list of sites you visit is visible to the provider. |
| IPv6 Leak Test | The VPN tunnels IPv4 only, so IPv6 connections leave directly, carrying your real address. |
| Timezone Check | The address says one country and the browser clock says another. Nothing leaks, but the mismatch itself reveals that a VPN is in use. |
What this check cannot tell you
- Only what is visible from the browser is examined. There is no way from here to confirm that the VPN encrypts your traffic — only to show which routes go around it.
- “No leaks found” means “nothing leaks in these four places”, not “you are anonymous”: the browser fingerprint, cookies and signed-in accounts stay exactly as they were.
- Time zone and fingerprint are not address leaks but tells: they identify you even when the tunnel works perfectly.
