Graphics Tablet Pen and Stylus Test

An online tool for diagnosing an active pen: a tablet stylus, Apple Pencil, S Pen or Surface Pen. It shows more than the current Pointer Events values — it measures how many pressure steps actually reach the browser, how hard you must press before the pen starts drawing, and how often the tablet polls the pen. When pressure does not work, the tool names the cause — driver, Windows Ink mode or a pen reported as a mouse — instead of just showing a zero.

How to test your pen

Draw on the dark area

Line thickness follows pressure. Pressure, tilt and button values update live under the canvas.

Press smoothly to the limit and release

The Pressure tab draws a ramp curve: activation threshold, smoothness of the rise, and whether the pen hits its ceiling too early.

Trace the guide line

The Line tab measures deviation from a straight line, separately for fast and slow movement.

Open the report

The Report tab collects the findings with their causes. Save it as an image, export JSON, or copy it as plain text for the manufacturer support ticket.

What reaches the browser

Three measurements run at once and on their own — there are no "start step" buttons: the checkmarks light up once enough data has arrived.

Press smoothly to the limit and release. Gives the ramp curve, the smoothness of the rise, and a check for hitting the ceiling too early.

Touch down a few times as lightly as you can. Gives the activation force — how hard you must press before the pen draws at all.

Press and hold still for a couple of seconds. Gives the noise of the pressure sensor under constant force.

Most pens report tilt up to ±60°, beyond which the value stops. Barrel rotation and the airbrush wheel exist only on a few models — a dash here does not mean a fault.

Trace the guide from end to end — first at a normal pace, then slowly. A slow diagonal is the most honest wobble test.

The palm counter shows how many times the surface registered a finger or palm while the pen was down. Zero means palm rejection works.

Findings are sorted by importance: what blocks your work first, then remarks, then reference notes.

Comparison with a saved run
Save the current result as a baseline — after changing the driver or the Windows Ink setting, run the test again and the difference will show up in the numbers.
