Online Word Processor — Document Editor

No — it is a document editor in the browser, not a Microsoft program. It opens and saves .docx files but does not do macros, tracked changes or footnotes. For a letter, essay, report or resume it has what you need: pages with margins, heading styles, lists, tables, images, page numbers and a table of contents.

Click Page setup at the bottom and pick “APA 7th edition” or “MLA 9th edition”: Times New Roman 12, double spacing, 1-inch margins, a half-inch first-line indent and page numbers in the top right. The running head or your last name before the number is still up to you, and your instructor’s rules may differ — margins and spacing are changed in the same place.

Headings, bold, italic and underline, lists, tables, images, alignment and indents, font and size, plus the page size and margins of the document. Headers and footers, comments, text boxes and text color do not carry over, and footnotes move to a list at the end of the document — after opening, the editor lists what changed. Old .doc files need to be saved as .docx in Word first.

Every edit is saved in this browser’s database, so the document comes back after a reload or a crash; all of them are in “My documents”, the icon left of the title. Clearing site data deletes them, so download the finished document as DOCX or PDF. In Chrome and Edge on a computer, “Save to file…” links the document to a file, and from then on Ctrl+S writes your edits straight into it.

The sheet is set in Tinos, Arimo and Carlito — fonts with exactly the same character widths as Times New Roman, Arial and Calibri — so lines break the same way on any device and the PDF is built from the same pages. If Times New Roman is installed, you see Times New Roman itself on screen; the DOCX names it, and Word lays the text out the same way.

Yes. On a narrow screen the sheet switches to the Text view that fits the screen, and the button row scrolls sideways under your finger, so every button stays at hand. The file is still built from real pages — the Pages switch at the bottom shows how the text falls on the sheet. Where the browser supports speech recognition, the dictation button types for you.

It rewrites the selected passage with a neural network: fixes mistakes, makes it shorter or longer, simpler or more formal. The new version is shown next to the original, you replace it or insert it below with one click, and Ctrl+Z brings back what was there. You need to be signed in; the token cost is shown before you run it.
