Elevation Above Sea Level at Any Point on the Map
This tool shows the elevation above sea level at any point on the map, and does more than give a single number: in profile mode you mark a route with clicks and get an elevation chart, total ascent and descent, minimum and maximum, plus the maximum and average slope in both percent and degrees. Coordinates appear next to the height in decimal degrees and in degrees-minutes-seconds. Everything is computed in your browser, so route length and the number of points are unlimited.
How to use it
In "Point" mode tap the map — the elevation in metres and feet appears along with the coordinates. "Near me" moves the map to your position.
Switch to "Route profile" and mark points with clicks. After the second point the chart and the statistics appear.
Maximum slope is the steepest stretch of the route; average slope is the total drop divided by the length. Both are given in percent and degrees.
The "Clear" button removes the line and the statistics without moving the map.

Terrain from Terrarium tiles (AWS Open Data, public domain) based on SRTM and national surveys. The elevation is read straight from a tile pixel in your browser, so the number of points in a profile is unlimited.
