Dash Cam on Your Phone

An online dash cam that runs in the phone’s browser: it records the road in a loop, keeps only the last minutes and saves the moment of a collision as a separate video. Date, time, GPS speed and coordinates are burned into the picture, and the trip is kept as a GPX track. Nothing to install — the page itself reads the camera, the location and the motion sensor.

How to use a phone as a dash cam

1
Mount the phone sideways and plug it in

In a windshield holder, camera clear of the tinted strip and inside the wiper area. Recording and GPS drain the battery within an hour or two.

2
Pick the loop length and the event window

Quality, how many minutes to keep and how many seconds before and after a moment to save — the page checks that the space is there.

3
Press “Start recording” and allow access

The browser asks for the camera, the location and, on an iPhone, the motion sensor. Keep the page on screen; dim it instead of locking the phone.

4
Keep and download the saved moments

Press “Save moment” or let the G-sensor do it. Each moment appears in the list with a thumbnail, speed and a map link, ready to download.

Record the road with your phone and keep the moments that matter

⚠️ A web page records only while it is on screen. If you lock the phone or switch to another app, the browser turns the camera off and recording stops — what was already recorded is kept. To save battery, use “Dim screen” instead of locking.

The camera is off. Press “Start recording” — the browser will ask for the camera and your location.

💥 Saved moments

No saved moments yet. They appear here after an impact or after you press “Save moment”.

    Quality

720p reads plates at a short distance and keeps the phone cooler; 1080p is sharper but heats the phone and fills storage twice as fast.

    Keep the last

Older footage is overwritten, like on a memory card. Saved moments are separate files and are never overwritten.

    Before the moment
    After the moment

A saved moment is one video: this many seconds before the impact or the button press and this many after it. A second impact during that time extends the same file.
