EQ Test: Emotional Intelligence as a Measured Skill

Online test of emotional intelligence built as a performance test rather than a questionnaire. Three abilities are measured with items that have correct answers — recognising emotion in a real voice and a real face, working out which emotion a situation produces, and choosing what to do about it — and a separate self-report scale asks how skilled you believe you are. The result reports both, plus the distance between them, with a stated confidence interval for every number.

1

Choose the short form (about 12 minutes) or the long one (about 30).

2

Listen to short clips and name the emotion in the voice — headphones help.

3

Watch silent clips and name the emotion in the face, then clips with both.

4

Read short situations and choose the emotion that follows, and the best response.

5

Answer the self-report block about how skilled you believe you are.

6

Read the result: three abilities, your self-image, and the gap between them.

Read real voices and faces, then compare the result with how skilled you thought you were
