Inflation Calculator by Month and Year
An online tool for adjusting money for inflation: what a sum from a past month is worth today, and what today’s money was worth back then. It works month by month on each country’s official consumer price index — the US CPI and the national indices of dozens of countries via the OECD, Rosstat for Russia, the State Statistics Service for Ukraine — and converts amounts across currency changes such as the euro.
How to calculate
Pick the country — the one for your language comes first, and the list holds the rest.
Enter the amount and the start and end months, or tap a preset such as “Since 2000”.
Read the answer and “How it was calculated” to see which indices went in.
Find what any amount was worth in another month or year
Put the end before the start to go backwards: what today’s amount was worth back then.
Compare with a savings account
Interest compounds monthly; tax on interest is not included.
Compare with dollars and gold
As if at the start of the period the money had been changed into dollars or used to buy gold — at the month’s average rate and average gold price, without fees or taxes.
A salary, a pension, a rent, a home price — any amount you know at two dates.
Your shares of spending. By default — the basket the statistics office weights its index with this year.
Type your own inflation for each year in the table below — an empty year uses the official figure.
Each country’s price growth in its own currency is compared — not exchange rates or living standards.
Calculation settings
“Between months” compares the price levels of the two months, like the BLS CPI Inflation Calculator: the first month’s own change is not included. “Inclusive” counts the inflation of every month in the period, as statistics offices do for a period such as “January to December”.
