How to set up a remote audio monitor

Open it on the device you want to hear

On the phone or laptop you will leave in the room, open this page and choose Microphone.

Press Go Live to start. You can also stream an audio file or a browser tab instead of the mic.

Can I use it as a remote audio monitor for a room?

Yes. Open the page on the device you want to hear, leave it in the room with the microphone on, and open the same link on your phone to listen live. Both devices are your own and opt in by opening the link — this is not a tool for secretly listening to someone else's device.

Will it alert me when the room gets loud?

Yes. In Monitor mode the listening device watches the incoming sound level and raises a sound alert when it crosses a threshold — a banner, a vibration and, if you allow notifications, a system notification even when the tab is in the background. A sensitivity slider lets you tune it for a quiet space or a noisier room.

Does it keep working with the screen locked?

It requests a screen wake lock so the device stays awake while the tab is open, and re-acquires it when you return to the tab — leave the device on a charger for long sessions. On some phones the browser may still throttle a fully backgrounded tab, so for an unattended monitor keep the tab in the foreground.

Is this really free with no registration?

Yes. No account needed — open the page, go live, and share the link. The room exists only while your browser tab is open.

How many people can listen?

Up to 20 simultaneous listeners. Each listener receives the audio directly from your browser, so the practical limit depends on your internet upload speed.

Is the audio recorded?

The live audio streams directly between browsers (peer-to-peer via WebRTC) and is not captured or stored on our servers; when the session ends it is gone. Anonymous reliability events (session start, listener counts, errors) are logged — see the Privacy Policy.

Does it work on phones?

Yes, on most modern mobile browsers. Chrome and Edge work best. On iPhone and iPad listening works well, while broadcasting may have limitations.

Is this a baby monitor?

No — it is a general remote audio monitor for any room or space, and a way to share live audio with others. If you specifically want to watch a baby, use our dedicated Baby Monitor tool. This one runs in the browser, works between any two devices, and can stream a file or a tab to up to 20 people.
