FAQ

What format do you verify?

JPEG with a Timbrica Photo Watermark credential. Other formats (PNG, WebP, AVIF) and other signing tools are not supported yet — only files signed via Photo Watermark.

Does my photo get uploaded?

No. Only a cryptographic fingerprint of the image plus the embedded signature are sent to the verification API — the raw photo bytes never leave your device. The server uses just the fingerprint and signature to confirm authenticity, so it never sees the actual image.

What does "invalid" mean?

The file carries a Timbrica signature, but the image's fingerprint no longer matches what was signed — someone edited the photo (cropped, re-saved, filtered, watermark replaced) after the credential was attached. The signature is doing exactly its job here.
