Frequently Asked Questions

Can this tool find the location of any photo?

Only if the photo contains GPS data in its EXIF metadata. Most smartphones embed GPS by default, but social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) strip this data when you upload. Photos from dedicated cameras may not have GPS unless the camera has a built-in GPS module.

How do I remove GPS data from photos before sharing?

Go to the Privacy tab after uploading a photo. You will see all sensitive metadata detected with risk levels. Check what you want to remove and click "Download Clean File" to get a version with no metadata.

Does this work with iPhone and Android photos?

Yes. Both iPhone (HEIC/JPEG) and Android (JPEG) photos typically include GPS coordinates when location services are enabled. This tool reads EXIF data from all these formats.

What is Error Level Analysis (ELA)?

ELA is a forensic technique that reveals areas of an image that may have been digitally manipulated. It works by re-compressing the image and highlighting differences. Uniform brightness suggests an unedited image, while bright spots may indicate pasted or cloned regions.
