Projector Edge Blending Pattern

When you butt two projectors side by side to make one wide picture, the place where their images overlap turns into a bright double-exposed stripe. Edge blending fixes it by fading each projector's overlapping edge to black along a gradient, so that where they cross, the two fades add back up to a single even brightness. The catch is that brightness adds in linear light, not the way the eye sees it, so the fade has to be gamma-corrected or the seam shows up as a bright or dark band. This pattern generates that gamma-correct ramp on any edge, with adjustable overlap width and gamma, plus an alignment grid to line the two images up first.

How to use

Align the two images first

Pick the grid background and overlap both projectors so their grid lines coincide pixel-for-pixel in the shared zone before fading anything.

Choose an overlap width

Around 15–20 percent suits most rigs: wider is more forgiving of misalignment, narrower leaves more usable screen.

Apply opposing blends

Set the left projector to fade its right edge and the right projector to fade its left edge, both at the same overlap percentage.

Trim the gamma

If the overlap looks brighter than the rest, lower the gamma; if darker, raise it, until the seam disappears into a uniform field.

Fade two projector edges into one seamless wide image

For two-projector horizontal setup: project this on the LEFT projector with right-edge blend at 15-20%, and the same pattern on the RIGHT projector with left-edge blend at the same percentage. Where they overlap, the gamma-correct gradients sum to a uniform field. Adjust gamma until the blend zone matches the rest of the image.
