Projector Keystone & Geometry Alignment Grid

A projector mounted even slightly off-axis throws a trapezoid instead of a rectangle, with edges that lean and lines that bow. This adjustable grid is the reference for fixing that. Project it and the horizontal and vertical lines should stay parallel to your screen border, the corner L-markers should land exactly on the screen corners, and the spacing should look even from side to side. You set the geometry physically first, then with lens shift, and only fall back on digital keystone as a last resort — because keystone correction throws away pixels and softens the image, which the dense grid lets you see for yourself.

How to align keystone

Square the projector physically

Position and level the projector so the image is as rectangular as you can get it before touching any correction setting.

Check the corner markers

Full-screen the grid with markers on. The corner L-marks should sit on the screen corners; overshoot or undershoot means it is too far or too close.

Use lens shift before keystone

Lens shift moves the image without bending it — use it for any remaining offset, and reach for digital keystone only if you truly cannot fix it by position.

Verify with a fine grid

Drop spacing to around 20 px and confirm the lines stay parallel and evenly spaced across the whole image, with no bowing at the edges.

Square the image to the screen and keep every line straight

Use this for keystone, lens shift and geometry alignment — NOT for sharpness (use the Focus Test for that). Adjust the projector position physically, then use lens shift; only resort to digital keystone if absolutely necessary, since it reduces effective resolution.
