Sudoku at 4×4 and 6×6 for pre-school and early primary, 9×9 for everyone else. Four puzzles to a page instead of four pages: a set for a class prints on one sheet, and the answers follow on their own pages in the same order.

Difficulty by solving technique, not by blank cells

Almost every generator calls a sudoku hard because it removed a lot of digits. Measured on our own puzzles: a 31-clue grid comes out hard while a 28-clue one comes out easy. Here the level is the deepest technique the puzzle genuinely forces.

A unique solution — verified, not promised

A sudoku with two solutions is not harder, it is broken: the solver's deductions stop being valid and a correct answer can be marked wrong. Every puzzle goes through an exhaustive count that stops at two.

In a word search, every word appears exactly once

Random filler letters sometimes spell a listed word somewhere else — about one sheet in a hundred and fifty. Then the task has two correct answers and the key accepts one. Every filler letter is checked before it reaches the sheet.

No word disappears quietly

If a word will not fit, it does not stay in the list under the grid as if nothing happened. The tool names the words it could not place, so a child does not hunt for something that is not there.

It does not promise a level it could not build

If the requested difficulty could not be reached, the tool says so rather than relabelling. And the other way round: it no longer overshoots a request for "medium" — a sheet that came out expert is not a bonus, it is a class that never finishes before the bell.

True-scale PDF with the answers on their own pages

A sudoku cell is 16 mm, which fits a pencil and a rubber. Answer keys follow at the end so a sheet can be handed out without the key on its back.

Why the clue count does not decide difficulty

Because what makes a sudoku hard is not how many cells are blank but what reasoning is needed to move at all. A 30-clue grid where every step is "this row has one empty cell" takes five minutes. A 30-clue grid where each step needs you to notice that a digit in a box can only sit in one row is a different task entirely. We solve every puzzle with a solver that applies techniques in ascending order and take the deepest one it had to reach. On our own sample that produced a hard puzzle with 31 clues and an easy one with 28.

Frequently asked questions

What do the difficulty levels mean?

"Easy" needs only singles: one candidate left in a cell, or a digit that fits one cell of a row. "Medium" needs a naked pair. "Hard" needs a pointing pair or a box-line interaction. The technique names are the standard ones and can be checked against any sudoku reference.

Is there a sudoku for pre-schoolers?

Yes — 4×4 and 6×6 grids. There the level means how many digits are given rather than which technique is needed, and that is the honest description: a board that small almost never forces anything past a single, so a technique ladder would be a lever that changes nothing. A 4×4 cell prints at 30 mm so a five-year-old’s hand fits inside it.

How hard is “expert”?

An expert sheet forces a naked triple or an X-wing — techniques an ordinary sudoku never reaches. Grids like that have to be hunted for: the generator tries up to six hundred carvings and rates each by the technique it actually requires, so a sheet takes about a second rather than appearing instantly. Measured over twelve seeds: an exact hit 12 of 12 at medium and hard, 6 of 6 at expert. If no expert grid turns up within that search, the tool says what it really produced instead of relabelling it.

Is the sudoku solution really unique?

Yes, and it is verified by exhaustive search rather than assumed. While cells are being removed, any removal that leaves more than one solution is undone. A sudoku with two solutions is not a hard puzzle, it is a spoiled one.

What are "accidental repeats" in a word search?

Cells not taken by words are filled with random letters, and sometimes those letters spell a listed word somewhere else. Then the task has two correct answers while the key accepts one. Measured across three hundred sheets, this happened on about 0.7% of them. Every filler letter is checked before it is written.

What happens if a word does not fit?

The tool names the words it could not place and leaves them out of the list under the grid. Usually a larger grid or dropping the longest word solves it.

Can I make word searches in Russian?

Yes. Filler letters follow the alphabet of your words: Latin letters in a Cyrillic grid give away immediately where the words are hidden.

Will the sheet print at the right size?

Yes, as long as "fit to page" is off in the print dialog. A sudoku cell is sized at 16 mm, which is enough to write in pencil and rub out.
