Frequently asked questions

One scan in a 200-page file is sideways. Do I have to rotate everything?

No. Every thumbnail carries its own pair of buttons, so you can turn that single page and leave the other 199 alone. Bulk and per-page rotations mix freely: turn the whole document 90°, then straighten the two pages that were already upright.

Does rotating re-encode the pages or lose quality?

No. A rotation is one number stored per page; the page content is copied across untouched. Text stays selectable, images keep their original compression, and the file size barely moves — which is also why a rotated 200-page scan saves as fast as a two-page one.

Some pages are already turned. Will the button add to that?

Yes — the turn is relative to how the page sits right now, exactly like turning a sheet of paper on the desk. The thumbnail updates as you click, so you read the final orientation off the screen instead of working it out in your head.

Will the contents and the roman-numeral preface survive?

Both travel into the result: the outline with its nested chapters and named destinations, and the page labels, including custom prefixes. Turn either off if you want a plainer file — a scan going to a printer rarely needs an outline.

The whole document came out of the scanner upside down.

Use the bulk 180° button: one click flips every page. If it came out sideways rather than upside down, the bulk 90° clockwise or counter-clockwise buttons do it in the same single click.
