ZX Spectrum tape: TZX and TAP to sound
An online tool for ZX Spectrum cassettes: it turns TZX, TAP and CDT images into the audio signal a real Spectrum loads from through its EAR socket, reads a recording of an old cassette back into TZX or TAP, and builds a tape out of your own BASIC program. Everything runs in the browser — parsing the tape, synthesising the signal and detecting the edges in a recording.
How to load a game into a real ZX Spectrum
Drop a .tzx, .tap or a ZIP holding one. The block list and the loading screen appear.
A 3.5 mm cable from the phone headphone output into the EAR socket of the Spectrum.
Press "Check the volume": stripes running along the Spectrum border mean the signal is getting through.
On the Spectrum type LOAD "" and press ENTER — the machine is now waiting for the tape.
The ▶ button starts playback. It pauses by itself at "stop the tape" marks.
