Phone Check: Nine Hardware Tests Step by Step
An online tool that checks a smartphone step by step. It walks you through nine short tests — screen flood, touch response, multitouch, cameras, microphone, speakers, vibration motor, motion sensors and battery — then collects every result into one report you can save or copy. Useful before buying a used handset, before a repair visit, or simply to find out what is actually failing.
How to Check Your Phone
Tap "Flood screen" and page through the solid colours full-screen. Look for dots, lines and patches, then come back and mark the result.
Touch, multitouch, cameras, microphone, speakers, vibration, sensors and battery. Any step can be skipped — it lands in the report as skipped, not as working.
At the end you get a summary with the status of every step plus device facts. Download it as a file or copy it — handy for a listing or a repair shop.
Walk through the tests one by one and get a single report on your device
Point your phone camera at the code to open this page there. A desktop has no vibration motor, motion sensors or rear camera, so several steps would end up with no data.
Screen
The screen fills with solid colours one after another. Look for coloured or black dots, lines, patches and uneven backlight.
Safari on iPhone offers no fullscreen, so the address bar covers part of the screen. To test the whole screen: Share → Add to Home Screen, then open the tool from there.
Touch
Swipe across the whole grid without lifting your finger. Cells that never fill in are areas that ignore touch.
Multitouch
Put several fingers on the pad at once to see how many simultaneous touches the screen can tell apart.
Cameras
Open the front and main camera in turn. Judge sharpness, colour and any spots or lines in the picture.
Microphone
Allow microphone access and say a few words at a normal volume. The bar should move clearly.
Speakers
Listen to the tone in the left and right channel. On a phone with a single speaker both sound the same — that is normal.
Vibration
Hold the device in your hand and play a short vibration burst.
Motion sensors
Allow sensor access and tilt the device from side to side. The values should follow the tilt.
Screen rotation
Turn the device sideways and back. The values should follow the rotation — that is how auto-rotate is tested.
Battery
The browser reports only the current charge and whether it is charging. Battery wear and cycle count are out of reach.
Charging
Plug the cable in or unplug it without leaving this page. This is not about the level but about whether the device really takes power: a worn cable, a dirty port and a dead controller all look the same — plugged in, nothing changes.
What this check cannot tell you
Cracks and chips in the glass cannot be detected in software: a screen does not see itself, and a broken handset with a working digitizer passes every step as functional. A browser also has no access to battery wear, charging port condition, moisture inside the body or the authenticity of parts. Inspect the body and glass by eye under bright side light, and for a serious purchase add an IMEI check.
