Push-up and squat counter with your phone camera

An online counter for push-ups, squats, pull-ups and sit-ups using your phone or laptop camera. Reps are counted by joint angle, so a half squat is told apart from a full one and goes into short reps, while the count is spoken out loud and shown large enough to read from two to three meters.

How to use

1
Choose an exercise

Each one says which joint is measured and how to place the camera.

2
Turn on the camera and step into the frame

Side-on and fully in view, two to three meters away. The joint markers at the bottom of the frame will turn green.

3
Do your set

The count runs by itself and is spoken out loud; "Finish set" saves the result to the log.

Prop up your phone and do your set — the camera keeps count

The camera keeps count

Place the phone two to three meters away, stand side-on and fully in the frame. The count will show large on screen and be spoken out loud.

How to place the camera

Two to three meters from the camera, fully in the frame, side-on for squats, push-ups, pull-ups and sit-ups; facing the camera for jumping jacks. Even light, clothes that contrast with the wall. Leaning the phone against a bottle works well.

What the tool does not do

This is a single-camera measurement without scene depth: a steep angle, a hidden leg or clothes matching the background make tracking worse. The tool shows the angle and depth, but the verdict at a fitness test stays with a person.
