Archive repair for damaged ZIP, RAR and 7z files

Most often the download is interrupted and the tail of the archive simply never arrives. The second most common case is an error page saved instead of the archive: the file is called .zip but holds HTML. Corrupted indexes, bad sectors and swapped extensions come up less often. The tool tells these apart and names the specific cause.

It depends on the damage. When the data is intact and only the structure broke — a corrupted index, or junk in front of the archive — everything comes back down to the last file. When part of the data never arrived, you get what did: the whole files plus the beginning of the interrupted one.

"Verified" means the checksum stored in the archive matched, so the file is exactly the original. "Recovered" means the file came out whole but the format (TAR, for instance) stores no checksums. "Partial" means only the beginning survived. "Damaged" means the data came out but failed verification.

Encrypted entries are flagged separately in the report. Structural repair still works for them, but the contents cannot be decrypted without the password.

There is no size limit: the file is read through a moving window as needed rather than loaded into memory. In Chrome and Edge the result can be written straight into a folder you pick, which keeps that end light too.
