An online tool for checking text for anglicisms — English loanwords you can do without. Paste your text into the editor: borrowings are highlighted as you type, and a native replacement is always one click away. Supports eight languages: Russian, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Korean, Indonesian and Arabic. Tokenization, matching and scoring run in your browser, and the strictness and domain-context settings recompute the result instantly. You get a 0-100 score with an A-F grade, a breakdown by category and word, etymology and secondary style metrics.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as an anglicism?

An anglicism is a word borrowed from English that has a perfectly good native equivalent in the target language. We flag well-attested loans documented in major reference works, and we always offer 1–3 native alternatives so you can decide. Naturalised borrowings (e.g. Russian «biznes», German «Computer») are penalised much less than bare anglicisms — and not at all in lax mode.

Where does the analysis run?

In Link mode the server fetches the page once for you (needed because of CORS restrictions). Tokenization, anglicism matching and scoring run in your browser via WebAssembly.

How accurate is the dictionary?

We curate the entries by hand from reference sources (RAN dictionaries, VDS Anglizismenindex, OQLF, RAE, and others). Each entry carries a severity, category, naturalisation flag, and acceptable-domain list, so you can tune the result to your context. You can ignore any word per page or globally.

Why is the IT-term «server» not flagged in IT context?

Domain awareness. Each anglicism declares the domains in which it is acceptable. In IT context «server» is treated as standard vocabulary; in marketing or general writing the same word may be flagged. Switch the Domain selector to test how a word behaves across contexts.

How does the score work?

We sum a severity-weighted count of anglicisms found, divide by total words to get density per 1 000 words, multiply by a strictness factor, and subtract from 100. Naturalised borrowings count as 0.3× outside purist mode; domain-acceptable words count as 0.4×. Grades: A 90+, B 75+, C 60+, D 40+, F below 40.

Can I extend the dictionary?

For now the tool ships with curated lists per language. We will open a community submission queue as the tool moves out of beta. In the meantime, the per-word ignore list and per-domain whitelist mean you can adapt the tool to your exact needs.
