Heading detection
Lines with font height ≥1.2× median are promoted to Heading 3, ≥1.4× to Heading 2, ≥1.7× to Heading 1.
Paragraph clustering
Lines separated by less than 1.5 line-heights merge into a paragraph; bigger gaps break.
Page breaks
Optional Word page breaks between every source page.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account?

No — no account, no limits.

What about my multi-column PDF?

Multi-column layouts collapse into a single text column. The text is returned in reading order per page, so the output is readable but not the same shape as the original.

Tables?

Tables get flattened into paragraphs in V1. Rebuild as a Word table after editing if needed.

Images from the PDF?

Dropped in V1. Re-insert manually after editing.

Scanned PDF with no text layer?

Won't work — no text means nothing to extract. Run an OCR tool first to add a searchable text layer, then come back here.

PDF/A or born-digital vs scanned — does the source matter?

Yes. Born-digital PDFs (exported from Word, LaTeX, InDesign, browsers) carry clean positioned text and convert well. PDF/A archival files convert the same way. Scanned PDFs need OCR first because the "text" is actually an image of text.

Password-protected PDF?

Not directly. Remove the password via the Unlock tool first.
