An online draft detector: the phone hears where a window leaks by the hiss of air above human hearing. The room is quiet in that band, and the short wavelength keeps the sound from bending around the frame — so the reading peaks exactly at the gap instead of smearing along the wall.
How to find a leak
Open the microphone and press Check this phone. It takes two seconds and decides which band the scan can use.
Hold the phone against a closed part of the frame or the wall beside it, and press Set baseline. Readings are decibels above that.
A hand’s width away, a few centimeters per second. Watch the trace rather than the number: the peak is the gap.

Rise is decibels above the baseline you set. "Hiss" is turbulence — air going through a gap. "Tone" is something ringing at one frequency: a fan, a charger, a screen. Only the first is a leak.
How to find the gap
A leak hisses far above the range of hearing, and that is exactly where a room is quiet — which is what makes it findable at all. Two things have to be true first: the capture must be raw, because noise suppression is built to remove steady hiss, and the phone must actually hear up there.
Hold the phone a hand’s width from the frame and move along it slowly. The wavelength up there is about twenty millimeters, so the sound does not bend round corners and the reading peaks at the gap rather than smearing over the whole window.
